HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Dr. Pen™ is an Electrical Pen which is powered either by an electrical power cable or a built-in rechargeable battery. The Dr. Pen is fitted with a cartridge of your choice. They come in 9, 12, 36 or 42 prong microscopically thin needles which are single use, disposable cartridges.

The needles oscillate up and down, puncturing the skin at a rate of close to 20,000 and 10,000 revolutions per minute, depending on the model of the machine used.

The needles create tiny puncture holes in the epidermis, causing micro-trauma. The quicker the needles oscillate, the less drag you will have on the surface of the skin.

Once the epidermis has been wounded the immune system will rush to respond and repair the area. In doing so it reproduces new healthy collagen naturally.

What ever product you use on the open punctured epidermis after the treatment, will absorb into the dermal layer, so be sure to use a superior product. We use serums of excellent quality from Germany and find the best results with these products.

DOES IT HURT?

The short answer would be NO provided a good topical epidermal anaesthetic is used. A Dermal anaesthetic is not necessary for this procedure.

DERMA ROLLER VERSES THE DR PEN™

Dermal Rollers only have one needle length and it cannot be adjusted during the treatments for different areas. The cost of the derma roller is higher, as you have to purchase a hole roller or roller head instead of a small, cheaper cartridge.

The derma roller has a large head and cannot fit in small areas unlike the Dr. Pen™ tips that have a much smaller surface area so those small, intricate areas are easy to get into.

The Dermal Roller needles tear little incisions into the skin instead of puncturing little straight holes in the skin like the Dr. Pen™.

The Dr. Pen™ is easier to operate and less taxing on the operator as the machine does all the work. It simply has to be guided across the skin lightly. The cartridges are easy to install and the needle depth is easy to adjust in the areas that are thinner and more sensitive, making it easy to adjust the treatment to suit your clients needs.

The most important difference between Dermal Roller and the Dr. Pen™ is the micro-punctures per minute. The Dermal Roller make 3000 and 4000 holes per minute and the Dr. Pen™ make between 20,000 and 10,000 puncture holes per minute, depending on the model Dr. Pen™ used.
